Time Out From Testing (TOFT) is urging parents to oppose the Chancellor’s reorganization by expressing your opinion on the surveys currently being sent home by the DOE.

TOFT is asking parents (whether or not they fill out the survey) to write across the front the following:
WE WANT REAL PARENT INVOLVEMENT and AN END TO EXCESSIVE AND HIGH STAKES TESTS!

We all need to come together and work to defeat the Chancellor’s charade of gauging parent satisfaction from a survey. The DOE does not really consider parent opinion to be very important. Test scores, not parent opinion, represent nearly 85 percent of their child’s school report card! Our children’s education has been narrowed down to a test score and we have no say.

We want real learning and meaningful curriculum, not test taking being disguised as “raising standards” and providing “accountability.”

We are talking with other parent groups to set up a time and place to give our real response to the survey. Let us know if your organization will join us.
